The Project

Graham Ellis Associates were appointed to act as Project Managers, Designers and Quantity Surveyors on the redevelopment of garage blocks within the Moorfield Estate in Harlow.

The project consisted of the demolition of 2nr two storey garage blocks down to slab level, with existing slab and structural retaining walls to the garages being retained.

29 New, larger garages were constructed to the west elevation of the site and new open car parking spaces were constructed to the east.

Existing retaining walls were reinforced and re-faced to match the rest of the site and new hard and soft landscaping and street lighting was incorporated into the scheme.

Major challenges on the site involved dealing with the party wall issues associated with 15 properties which abut the site, liaison with the residents and the resident’s association and managing major demolition and construction works within an occupied residential area.

The project was delivered both on time and within Budget.

GEA were congratulated by the Moorfield’s Residents Association for a “sensitive” and “professional” service.
