Description
CLIENT: Harlow Council, Civic Centre, The Water Gardens
LOCATION: 1-5 The Oxleys, Old Harlow, Essex
Client’s Brief
The riverbanks to the rear gardens to the east of 1-12 The Oxleys, a housing estate in Old Harlow had suffered extensive erosion.
The river running along the rear gardens of the properties was being used as a storm relief channel and was prone to significant surcharge at times of heavy rainfall.
The riverbanks had suffered extensive erosion culminating in a significant portion of the river bank collapsing in the river. Boundary fences and a garden shed had already been completely undermined and further erosion was inevitable.
GEA’s task was to design a suitable solution to repair and arrest further erosion and to design a long-term solution to protect the river bank.
